Graduation Chronicles #3

Graduation Chronicles #3: Beneath The Lights

Notes: 200 more words of graduation related self analysis than anyone else probably needed.

The last song of the senior's last night together as a class was a slow one, a ballad for the couples. In the middle of the floor, Jack and Marion seemed to glow. They were the closest their that class had to royalty. Voted best couple in the yearbook, prom king and queen.

And now it was all drawing to a close.

Sure, the next day was graduation, then there were the celebratory parties to look forward to. After that was the summer, a two month limbo between high school and the great beyond. But all of that seemed fleeting.

Jack and Marion knew the reality of their situation. From here on out, time would pass in a whirlwind. Days would turn to seconds. And a long distance relationship at their age seemed impractical. Marion was going to the University of Buffalo, Jack to the University of Southern California, just as their dreams had dictated.

No, this was their last night; Their last night to revel in high school glory, high school love. Tomorrow, the simple rising of the sun, the beginning of a new day, would change everything.

And yet the happy couple continued their dance beneath the lights.
